The feds’ reliance on standardized testing excludes the use of artificial intelligence, so school districts are forging ahead with the technology to power their own formative assessments.

Leaders in Literacy Get It

My friend Scott McLeod reminds me often that if leaders don’t “get it,” change won’t happen. Today, I experienced what can happen when leaders “get it.”

Presenting to 80-plus principals and school administrators at Omaha Public Schools, we covered three important keys to literacy moving forward: Vision, Focus, and Stamina.

Some Big Ideas coming from our conversation today:

  • Investing in people rather than programs
  • Everyone should be a curious learner
  • Comprehension is Not a Commodity
  • Are our kids learning skills they can use independent of the classroom?
  • Change doesn’t happen ‘automagically’
